Our Rolex history
For over 230 years, Goldsmiths has been specialising in fine jewellery and luxury timepieces.
Our unique history and reputation for excellence informs everything we do.
Since 1778
Goldsmiths has an illustrious heritage as a fine jeweller, spanning more than two centuries of tradition and experience. Our first showroom opened in Newcastle in 1778 and Goldsmiths has since become firmly established as a dynamic destination for luxury watches and fine jewellery.
Today, we are one of the leading fine jewellers in the UK, providing a range of diamonds, jewellery and timepieces to customers in every major town and city.
Goldsmiths and Rolex
Over a century ago, in 1919, Goldsmiths were privileged to be one of the first appointed stockists of Rolex timepieces, with our Northern Goldsmiths showroom in Newcastle.
To commemorate the occasion, an iconic four-sided golden Rolex clock was installed above the location in 1937. We are proud to say that this showroom remains on the same corner of Blackett Street in Newcastle, continuing to showcase our long-established relationship with Rolex and signifying our expertise and knowledge to any customers wishing to purchase a Rolex watch.
The Watches of Switzerland group and Rolex
The Watches of Switzerland Group is honoured to represent Rolex across all three of our fascias - Goldsmiths, Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland. As the leading luxury watch specialist in the UK, we are honoured to be part of the worldwide network of Official Rolex Retailers.
In addition to our Rolex showrooms across the United Kingdom, we have the privilege of operating bespoke Rolex Boutiques on Bond Street in London, Buchannan Street in Glasgow and within Heathrow airport.
