About Piaget

Piaget epitomizes daring creativity – a quality that has continued to permeate through the Maison since its beginnings in 1874. From his first workshop in La Côteaux- Fées, Georges-Edouard Piaget devoted himself to crafting high-precision movements in a feat that formed the very foundations of our pioneering name. In the late 1950s, Piaget unveiled the ultra-thin movements that would later become the Maison’s trademark and the cornerstone of the Altiplano collection. As a true innovator of the watch and jewellery world, Piaget strongly believed in creativity and artistic values. It is within the walls of our « Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire » where master artisans continue to harness rare skills that have been preserved and perfected from generation to generation, transforming gold, stones and precious gems into dazzling works of art. Through its pursuit of masterful craftsmanship, the Maison has created emblems of daring excellence channeled into its collections.

History of Piaget Watches

Piaget was established in the small village of La Côte-Aux-Fées in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget. Georges-Édouard had a passion for watchmaking from a young age and was just 19 years old when he set up his first workshop in the family farmhouse and devoted himself to creating high-precision movements. An extremely motivated individual, Georges-Édouard lived by the motto “always do better than necessary” and this drive to constantly exceed expectations continues to move Piaget forward today.

Piaget continued its success after being taken over by Georges-Édouard’s son, Timothée Piaget, transitioning from a movement manufacturer to a luxury wristwatch and pocket watch maker. Piaget became a registered trademark in 1943 and set up a larger manufacturing base in La Côte-aux-Fées two years later, where the brand we know today would blossom. The evolution of Piaget continued with the third generation of the family, Gérald and Valentin Piaget.

Why Buy a Piaget Watch?

Piaget’s revolutionary technology has paved the way for several exciting innovations in the world of luxury watchmaking, including the ultra-thin watches which made the brand an original trailblazer in its early years. Designed to be synonymous with sophistication, the famous slim watches are a popular choice for those who value classic elegance.

Whether you prefer an automatic movement or quartz watches, if you’re looking for a timepiece with impressive functionality and world-renowned prestige, you’ve come to the right place. We have a wide range of Piaget watches to choose from, so no matter what your style, you’re sure to find the perfect fit.

We offer a number of Piaget collections to ensure there’s one to suit your unique taste. Whether you’ve got your eye on something sparkly or you fancy a more classic style, you’re sure to find a piece you love.

The Piaget Polo collection of men’s watches was originally launched in 1979, inspired by the popular horseback sport. It quickly became an icon in the horology world and was considered an authentic token of luxury. Today’s design remains instantly recognisable and features the original cushion-shaped dial, round case and link bracelet strap with alternating polished and satin finishes.

Piaget began their journey into jewellery watches in the 1960s, adorning the wrists of many elegant women. Today they continue this legacy with the Piaget Limelight Gala watches. Encased in precious metal with soft, feminine curves which glitter with diamonds, Piaget’s Limelight Gala watches are the epitome of refined glamour.

Caring for your Piaget Watch

Piaget watches are carefully crafted instruments and require regular care to keep them in top condition and ensure they last for generations to come. Piaget recommends servicing your watch every three to four years and cleaning it regularly at home. At Goldsmiths, we offer in-store watch servicing at our Newcastle and Middlesbrough boutiques or you can choose to have your watch sent to a specialist workshop for Piaget watches.

While our watch servicing includes a deep clean of your Piaget watch, you can also clean it yourself at home if it just needs a little spruce up. Simply use a soft cloth and a small amount of soapy water to gently wipe the watch case and metal bracelet clean.

We appreciate sometimes accidents happen, which is why we offer Goldsmiths Care on Piaget watches. This service will protect your new watch against accidental damage and theft. All you need to do is visit one of our stores to submit a claim and we’ll repair or replace your watch as soon as possible. Choose between three or five years’ protection - you’ll be covered with just one simple payment and there won’t be any additional fees if you make a claim.
