In Fine Shape

By The Watches of Switzerland Group 3 Minute Read

We can’t say geometry is necessarily our strong suit, but we do know a thing or two about hexagons, as this six-sided shape is very popular in the jewellery world.

Whilst creating geometric shapes out of precious metals and gemstones isn’t a particularly new concept, there is something about hexagonal pieces that feels distinctly contemporary. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites here – and we think any of these pieces could be the perfect way to update your jewellery collection.

The Art of Intricacy

The theme of mixing mediums and shapes is embodied by our 9-carat yellow-gold and mixed-cut hexagon collections. The pendant and stud earrings are comprised of golden hexagons that encase four diamonds set into a beautiful textured gold, creating an aesthetic that draws you in to admire their intricacies. With a pair of emerald-cut baguette diamonds and two brilliant-cut gemstones set into the pendant and each of the stud earrings, these are bold and interesting designs. The great thing about geometric shapes is that they can easily be layered with different styles to add variation to your look – whether it be within a ‘#neckmess’ of necklace chains, or as a variety of piercings in an earring stack.

Open Heart

Many-sided shapes are also used as alternatives to classic styles, such as the ever-popular huggie hoop earring. Our 9-carat white-gold hoop earrings are a subtle update to the classic small hoop, each set with a row of shimmering brilliant-cut diamonds. These pair beautifully with our 9-carat white-gold open pendant held at the top point by a fine white-gold chain. The piece displays six emerald-cut diamonds and three brilliant-cut diamonds at the points of the shape.

Sweet Like Honey

Hexagons, and the attractive honeycomb structure they create, have become a trend over recent years. They pop up everywhere – from interior design to the shape Rihanna chose for encasing the products in her wildly popular Fenty Beauty brand. As we’ve often mentioned on this blog, jewellery stacking is very much in vogue – and it’s a style that looks set to stay on trend. Just look at our exquisite 18-carat white-gold hexagon bridal set. The diamond-set wedding band has been sculpted to allow the centrepiece of the engagement ring to nest comfortably when the two rings are worn together. The focal point of the piece is encircled by a halo of diamonds, with a flower of the gemstones again surrounding a perfect brilliant-cut diamond – it’s a true showstopper.

Fit for a Queen

There’s something about our brand-new 9-carat white-gold and sapphire collection that is regal in appearance. Perhaps it’s the combination of a deep-blue sapphire and sparklingly clear diamonds that we associate with royalty (think the Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement ring!). The hexagonal shape of the pieces is enhanced by the placement of the six claws holding the sapphire secure, each one corresponding to a point of the shape, drawing the eye to the central stone. This understated and elegant design features in the stud earrings, pendant, and diamond ring. The sapphire gemstone is also said to bring wisdom and virtue to the wearer – and if it’s good enough for the Royal Family, it’s good enough for us!
