Goldsmiths sustainable packaging range

At Goldsmiths, our impact on the environment features heavily in the design choices we make. This extends to our packaging, intended to store and protect your purchases for their lifetime.

Sustainable Packaging

Following our latest project with our packaging partner Keenpac and keeping in line with our brand values we have reduced the total weight of materials used in the manufacture of our jewellery box range by 4.5 tonnes per annum*, removing all plastic and replacing with recycled paper/card alternatives. All kraft and grey board product is certified to a globally recognised certification scheme supporting responsible forestry. All jewellery box print is completed with water based inks and the metal hinge has also been removed. This, along with reducing the size of the outer gift box element gives us a direct reduction in material consumption without impacting your experience.

*Based on Feb 24-Jan 25 product usage.

For transportation and moisture absorption we are using montmorillonite clay pouches. This is a natural, eco-friendly desiccant.

Our bespoke designed jewellery boxes are intended for years of long-term storage. However, if you wish to dispose of the packaging, you can easily remove the insert, allowing the jewellery box set to be recycled via household waste streams. The only part of our packaging which needs to enter general waste is the insert. The microfibre used on the insert is 55% recycled pre-consumer polyamide (made from waste generated during the manufacturing process)

During the design process we researched and developed the finest of details so that we could use the best possible sustainable materials to maintain the quality of packaging you have come to expect from Goldsmiths, even down to the small tab on the box replacing the fabric with a paper alternative.

Our branded bags are recyclable using plant-based inks and paper handles. The ribbon is rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) produced by recycling plastic bottles and containers. Please reuse where possible but for end of life the bag can be recycled after the removal of the rPET ribbon.

The new generation of the Goldsmiths jewellery box range is aesthetically very similar to the previous version, the outer box fits snug to protect which also reduces the volumetric weight, minimising packaging materials and optimising space for shipping and storage, in turn reducing our carbon footprint

This design keeps the strong Goldsmiths brand along with a paper tab on the outer and drop-down front to remove the jewellery box with ease.
