NEWLY REFURBISHED GOLDSMITHS OPENS IN METRO CENTRELong serving jewellery craftsman Paul Dunn, who has worked for
Goldsmiths since it opened in 1984, officially unveils the new look £1 million
Metro Centre showroom at 12 noon on Thursday 8
th July 2010.
Paul, who has repaired thousands of heirlooms and valuable jewellery from across the region during the past 25 years, is thrilled to be opening the store. He says: "I'm astonished how quickly the time has flown since I joined. One of the things I love most about my job is seeing the delight on a customer's face when I restore a favourite piece of jewellery, so reopening the showroom, now its make over is complete, feels like a huge honour."
The newly refurbished store boasts the company's first
Rolex boutique, stocking an exclusive range of luxurious
watches. It will also house the new
Goldsmiths Diamond Signature Collection, which features exclusive jewellery designs that are unique to
Goldsmiths. Other products include luxury watch brands Bell & Ross,
Chanel and IWC.
Store manager, Jonathan Robertson, who has managed the store for over four years says: "I'm excited to see the reaction of our customers to our state-of-the-art show room, especially as
Newcastle is such an important and historic location for the company."
Goldsmiths originally began in the North East more than 230 years ago, with the opening of its first showroom in 1778 in Blackett Street, Newcastle. A store still exists there to this day, and the company has since grown to operate more than
170 stores across the UK and Northern Ireland.
The two floor
Metro Centre store is the company's most profitable store and employs a number of specialists including multiple diamond experts, an on-site watch technician, on-site jewellery craftsman.
