Fashion powerhouse Gucci has been on-trend for almost 100 years, but for 2017 it’s launching one of its most stylish watch collections yet, which is now available in most Goldsmiths stores and online…
You know what they say about fashion – one day you’re in, the next you’re out. This isn’t something that luxury fashion label Gucci really has to worry about given that it’s been en vogue for a century or so – but it certainly seems that the Italian brand is enjoying something of a moment right now.
Suddenly, Gucci’s luxurious leather loafers are on the feet of every stylish boy and the brand’s retro-looking t-shirts on the backs of every fashion blogger with an Instagram account. However, while you could splash out on a designer top, here at Goldsmiths we really believe there is a wiser way to spend your cash and still be bang on-trend: buy a Gucci watch. These are every bit as fun and fashionable as the label’s clothing but you can wear them every day.
The new watches are part of the Fashion Show collection. And it’s an appropriate name as the watches have been designed to match the eclectic Gucci collections seen on catwalks. Making use of materials such as plexiglass and studs and featuring bee, snake and tiger motifs, the new Gucci Fashion Show collection is every bit as innovative and ‘out there’ as the famous brand’s clothes. And that’s part of what makes it a fantastic choice for our fashion-conscious Goldsmiths customers.
Here’s just a quick taster of what’s on offer…
We love the Le Marché des Merveilles quartz collection, featuring dials intricately embroidered with bees, snakes and tigers in Gucci’s trademark green and red colour way. The 38mm yellow gold PVD cases come with either a vibrant, contrasting-colour web nylon strap or a leather cuff strap, and each of the watches has a stainless steel snapback case back engraved with a small bee.
Price: from £560
Stand out from the crowd with this 24mm Plexiglas watch. Its transparent, red and green colour scheme mirrors a lot of what made it into Gucci fashion shows this year and certainly makes for an interesting-looking piece of wrist wear. The strap is green and red leather and this watch also features a caseback (in yellow gold PVD this time) with a cute bee engraving.
Price: from £480
More Le Marché de Merveilles watches now but this time with three beautiful synthetic stone dials. From poppy turquoise to rich malachite green and stunning coral – each is embellished with a little bee that doubles as a 12 o’clock index. The watches measure 38mm, have quartz movements and boast black leather straps to complete their look.
