08/04/2011 - Welsh gold WILL be used in April’s Royal Wedding

Welsh gold WILL be used in April's Royal Wedding

After nearly 5 months of speculation since the engagement between Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton was announced, Clogau Gold have today received confirmation from Clarence House's Press Office that Welsh gold is going to be used for the couple's wedding rings.

The Queen, herself, has donated a family supply of Welsh gold to crown jeweller, Harry Collins, to create Catherine's wedding jewellery, William however has chosen not to wear a ring.

This means that the Royal wedding, to be held on Friday 29th April, will continue the long upheld tradition of using Welsh gold in Royal wedding rings, which began in 1923 with The Queen Mother's marriage to King George VI.

Managing Director, Ben Roberts, says;

"I am overjoyed to now have official confirmation from the Palace that Welsh gold will be used for Miss Catherine Middleton's wedding ring.

We have had our fingers crossed since the engagement was announced in November that the tradition would be upheld. I was expecting to have to wait until after the wedding to discover this news so it has come as a very welcome surprise to me!

Since 1923, the Royal Family has used Welsh gold for their wedding rings, so this is a lovely association for Clogau Gold, which will now be carried on into 2011."

The recent confirmation has come in perfect time for Clogau Gold, who have just this month launched a Royal-themed Spring & Summer 2011 product offering and dedicated wedding campaign, promoting their ties to The Royal Family.
